GGCGS Background

GingerGroup Financial Services Ltd took the naming rights of the Corporate Golf Series. They are a support services company for the financial profession formed in late 2010 from three existing and successful dealer groups.

They partner with over 500 independently owned and operated NZ practitioner clients. These range from  financial advisory firms, financial planners, risk brokers, accounting firms, mortgage brokers and recently, legal firms. Although not being a 1st-Tier brand, GingerGroup has a fast growing influence within the profession. They also have a  fundamental, underlying principle of 'teamwork'. This correlates to the format of the GGCGS being a best-ball competition. You will agree, a most suitable sponsorship for a 'baby boomer' demographic now moving into the age of eligibility for retirement.

A Team Ambrose section was added to the Corporate Golf Events mid-way through 2011. This proved very popular for the teams that wanted to play in the same foursome or had golfers without official handicaps. Team Ambrose will be expanded for the 2012 Series.

The more serious competition format was a relatively unknown system of scoring called BestBall Par in pairs. Although Par scoring is well known, using the best-ball (Par) per pair within a 4-person corporate team works well. This version of handicap match play in a true team situation was the brain-child of co-organiser Lance Murray. Deemed to be much fairer than stableford because, it does not penalise the low handicapper. Is proving very popular and reinforces the whole GingerGroup concept of 'teamwork'.

Leading NZ Golfers such as Sir Bob Charles(+0.8) and Mathew Perry(+3.1) can attest to the fairness and teamwork of BestBall Par.

Sir Bob's team advanced from GGCGS Pegasus to the Final whereas Matt's team came 2nd at  GGCGS Hamilton and only because of teamwork.

GGCGS HintTeam golf as in business, team work produces the 'best results'.
